MOMsymposium in Amsterdam
Tomorrow the MOMSymposium will set foot on "Continental Europe", in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to be precise. Time for some thoughts on the international MRM market.
Differences in international MRM markets
Looking at MRM projects it appears that European MRM projects traditionally have to deal with multi-lingual, multi-currency (although the euro made it a bit easier), multi-metric and multi-strategy markets. Entering a new market isn’t a trivial task in Europe.
When we visited the MOM Symposium in New York, March this year, we learned that American projects have a stronger focus on finance, reporting and accountability, because of strict legislative rules like SOX.
Whether or not these differences are reflected in the functionality of the European and American MRM software is not known yet, but is definitely worth a closer look.
The MRM market is maturing
Take the Dutch market. The last few months it seems that the Dutch MRM software market is entering a new phase in its maturity life cycle.
Where in the years before the market was a Greenfield with many smaller software vendors involved, we now hear the same vendor names being involved in all the major pitches. Some of these potential buyers are actually looking for a 2nd generation MRM tool. They already have a software tool in place, but want more functionality.
We believe it is no coincidence that the Netherlands harbor so many MRM vendors. A lot of Dutch companies have an international focus and many European corporate companies are headquartered in the vicinity of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The decision to have the first MOM Symposium in Amsterdam seems to be the right choice. We hope to see you tomorrow!
